Hawaii is not only the name of the chain of Islands in the Pacific that make up America’s fiftieth state, but it is also the name of the Big Island. Hawaii is the dominant island in the chain and the name of the biggest island just stuck for the whole chain. But natives tend to refer to the island of Hawaii as the Big Island, Hawaii being the name of the entire state. Whatever you call it – the Big Island, Hawaii, Wow or whatever – there are loads of things to do so you have no excuse to be bored during a Hawaiian vacation.

Touristy Stuff

The Big Island Hawaii is mainly geared for tourism. This includes some of the “touristy” flavored activities that the average person assumes you can do on Hawaii. You can still participate in luaus, still go walk up a live volcano and still girl watch (or boy watch) on the beach. You can dance the hula and wear leis. You can drink little cocktails with umbrellas in them and listen to a ukulele player. There still is a big demand for the “cute” or “quaint” places catered just for foreign tourists in the Big Island, Hawaii.

“Info-tainment”

There are many other places and attractions in Hawaii that engage your brain as well as your tanning cells. Hawaii has many fine museums, educational tours and usual activities. You could take folk dancing lessons, a yoga class, have your fortune read, learn Hawaiian coconut leaf weaving or take a helicopter tour of the islands. This definitely isn’t The Brady Bunch episode when they take a trip to Hawaii.

Eco-tourism

The Big Island Hawaii knows that they are home to some of the most unique creatures and plants in the world. They are trying to preserve this with the growth of eco-tourism activities. This is where you go to observe nature and disturb it as little as possible. Kayaking or sailing is less obtrusive on nature than renting a speedboat, for example. There are many places to hike, bird watch, bike, ride horses or go camping. You can even go snorkeling to get close to amazingly colored fish.

Real American Fun

You can also participate in some of your favorite activities such as golf, racquetball and shopping – but you can do it under Hawaii’s spectacular weather and scenery, with the smell of the sea never too far away. You can see movies, concerts and eat fine food. Check with the Hawaii Tourist Board for all the latest details.

There are two ways to get to Hawaii, by boat and by plane and since a boat will take a very long time, many choose to select a flight to Hawaii to reach their vacation destination. Even with travel time considerably shortened as compared to a boat, taking a flight to Hawaii can feel like a very long time in the air. Some non-stop flights, from Chicago for example, can last 11 to 14 hours depending the aircraft and wind conditions in the upper flight paths.

Many times a flight to Hawaii will provide the traveler with sights from the sky they may not expect to experience. Most aircrafts do not fly a straight route, following the equator as due to the roundness of the Earth, this would actually take longer, involving many more miles than necessary to complete the flight to Hawaii. Generally, planes will take a more northerly route, often passing over parts of the Artic region, depending on the origin of the flight.

As the plane gets ready to land, many may feel it is going to splash down in the ocean and the main runways of Hawaii International Airport at Honolulu end about the same place the Pacific Ocean begins. As the plane descends towards the airport, ocean water will be clearly visible with the flight to Hawaii ending successfully as the runway suddenly appears moments prior to touchdown.

Keeping Yourself Busy On Long Flight

With the length of many of the trips, keeping occupied on a flight to Hawaii can be a challenging experience. Many people opt to stay awake late the night before and hope to sleep through much of the flight to Hawaii to make the time seem to pass quicker. Others choose to read books and magazines during the long flight, which may also cause them to be overcome by slumber.

One of the scariest aspects of a flight to Hawaii is in the event of an emergency, there are no places to make an emergency landing. There is virtually little dry ground between the west coast of the United States and the island state of Hawaii. If a problem does develop, the only hope is that it occurs quickly into the flight, allowing time to turn around and head back to the mainland.

However, the beauty and splendor of this tropical island paradise can quickly dispel any fears of flying or the length of time it takes for the flight to Hawaii to arrive. By looking forward to a fun-filled time can help occupy the time spent on the aircraft.

When it comes to visiting Hawaii, the activities available are what sets this destination apart form many others. Of course the islands of Hawaii aren’t the only place you’ll find tourist attractions and activities, but it is a place where you’ll find the activities available to be rich and prominent in culture.

On top of there being many different kinds of Hawaii activities, there’s even more options once you’ve chosen an activity. Of the top rated things to do in Hawaii, the following are things you shouldn’t pass on the opportunity to experience.

Snorkeling in Hawaii

The islands offer some of the best snorkeling in the world, and for good reason. Not only is there plenty of ocean water close to the shore for fish to live, but Hawaii puts toward a tremendous effort in maintaining thriving coral reefs to ensure the sea life for centuries to come, and an awesome Hawaii activity for visitors to enjoy indefinitely.

You can choose to set out to one of plenty popular snorkeling spots like Hanauma Bay, which is a state preserve. This means the beach park is open to residents and tourists alike to educate about sea life and offer a great first time snorkeling experience.

Shark’s cove, although sounding dangerous, is actually considered the best snorkeling spot in Hawaii. You won’t find any sharks at the cove, but you will find plenty of sea life, including huge sea turtles, to marvel at.

Sight Seeing in Hawaii

Hawaii sight seeing activities are of the most popular things to do in Hawaii when visiting, and no matter the length of stay you endure, you’ll never see it all. However using a tour company to see the sights is a great way to make sure you cover as much base as possible.

Among these types of Hawaii activities, hiking tours and helicopter tours shouldn’t be missed. Interested in the rain forest? How about beach hopping until the sun goes down? There’s a tour for that. Whatever is your pleasure, you’re sure to find a tour company to offer the experience.

Luaus in Hawaii

The options for Hawaiian luau activities are endless. Whether you choose a show offered by a hotel or a private tour service, no two shows are alike. So, you’ll never have to worry whether or not seeing more than one show is worthless, because it really isn’t. The experience you get out of each individual luau is sure to leave you in awe, every time.

Many major airlines provide transportation to the island state of Hawaii, although most tourist flights fly into the Honolulu airport on the island of Oahu. While the largest island is named Hawaii, the entire group of eight inhabited islands is known as Hawaii as a whole, causing some confusion for visitors. Some of the local Hawaii airlines fly between the islands as part of the land’s tourism trade as well as for business.

Six of the Hawaiian islands boast passenger service at their airports, but only three are serviced to provide opportunities for larger commercial aircraft. With Honolulu International Airport, on the island of Oahu being the major hub for Hawaii airlines, commercial planes from the United States and Europe can also land at Hilo International airport on the big island of Hawaii and at Kahului Airport on Maui.

Although the airport on Maui is capable of handling some of the large commercial air traffic, typically smaller planes ferry people from the other islands who are interested in participating in water sports and marine activities. Many of the smaller connecting flights are handled by Hawaii airlines throughout the entire island chain.

Tourism Gets Boost From Smaller Planes

In addition to Hawaii airlines, many smaller companies as well as individuals offer sir service to some of the smaller islands such as Molokai, Kauai and Lanai. Many visitors hop to these islands by small plane as opposed to ships or ferries that transport tourists as well as local between the islands. Tourism on the out islands is not nearly as heavy as it is on Oahu, although the big island of Hawaii and the island of Maui is slowly catching up, much to the chagrin of may locals.

Knowing where to go for what you want to do is a big step to insure getting the most out of a Hawaiian vacation. Flying Hawaii airlines into Maui, for example is the place to be for surfing and for deep water tropical fishing. It is also known for some of the most colorful, exotic marine life that can be seen while snorkeling. For sight seeing the terrain and the affects of volcanic activity, a flight on Hawaii airlines to the big islands can answer the call. Steep cliffs and barren land masses mark the island, the name sake of the state.

Simply interested in nightlife and tourism, taking a Hawaii airlines flight into Honolulu can provide all the fun and excitement a person can hope to find on vacation. From lying on the beach to participating in a local luau, the life in the tropics is all readily available.

Since the time when people learned how to sing, there have been songs written about the beauty, cleanliness and warmth of Hawaii beaches. Movies have shown all aspects of life in the pristine sand surrounding the islands of Hawaii, with one of the most often used of the Hawaii beaches being located on the island of Oahu, along the southeast coast of Waikiki beach. Although some of the largest waves shown in many sports shows and movies are often on the northern side of the island or on other islands in the chain.

There eight principal islands that comprise the island chain, with Nihau being the smallest inhabited island with some of the more untouched Hawaii beaches in the state. Many have chosen to make their home on islands such as Oahu, Molokai and Lanai to be further away from the tourist crowd that has supplied the state with about a fourth of its annual gross domestic products since becoming a state in 1959.

One thing that may stand out in the minds of many visiting Hawaii beaches are the large rock seawalls built offshore. While the walls serve to protect the beaches from erosion during severe weather, they also serve as a barricade to some of the more dangerous fish species that survive in the warm tropical waters. Sharks and barracuda are common in the waters and remaining inside the break wall can help assure the safety of swimmers.

Volcanic Origins Evident On Some Beaches

This island group has been formed over millions of years of volcanic eruptions and many lava flows are evident throughout the islands in the chain. Some of the Hawaii beaches are of black sand, thought to be from thousands of years of oceanic activity on the lava that flowed into the water. One of the most famous mountains in Hawaii, Diamondhead is a large lava mountain, readily visible for the Hawaii beaches at Waikiki.

Off the shores of the big island, Hawaii there are beaches surrounding most of the island, but these Hawaii beaches are not as complete for tourism as those on Oahu or even Maui, despite the islands being smaller. Most of the sugar cane and pineapple industries of Hawaii is located on the big island.

Many tourist areas of the islands, such as the northeast cliffs of Molokai may offer breath-taking scenery, but due to the landscape, the Hawaii beaches on part of this island are not accessible to most visitors.

When you think of cruises, you probably think of riding the blue waters in a big ship that may offer dancing, drinking and even the occasional dinner party. But what comes to mind when you think of Hawaii cruises? You may think about the fact that the waters are as blue as they come, and the weather couldn’t be more perfect. But were you aware that not all Hawaii Cruises are even remotely alike?

Vast Differences Make Hawaii Cruises Unique

Of course you’ve always got the option of choosing a standard Hawaii Cruise offering sights of the ocean during a pre determined amount of cruising time, and maybe a drink to wet the whistle while sailing.

However there’s much more to Hawaii cruises nowadays! Some cruise lines offer full buffet dinners and a live band, transforming their cruise into a dinner nightclub on the ocean.

Other Hawaii cruise lines take it even further with a full 3 course, 5 star meal along with a traditional luau featuring tantalizing dancers and traditions of the Hawaiian islands. You can even find cruises that offer overnight excursions with luxurious accommodations that will leave you feeling like the rich and famous, without even breaking the bank!

On another note, snorkeling with the dolphins and whale watching up close are definite options when it comes to booking a cruise in Hawaii.

How to Find Hawaii Cruise Options

The Internet is the best way to go if you aren’t in Hawaii when looking to book a cruise. You’ll find plenty of companies and websites online that offer Hawaii cruise packages of many different varieties. A few things to keep in mind before setting off to book a cruise are which island you’ll be staying on, which days and dates you have available to cruise and which activities will interest you the most.

Hawaii cruises can be pretty costly depending on the features and opportunities offered on your chosen cruise. So making sure you choose the one you’ll like the most is very important. If you’ve never been to Hawaii or are unaware of the cultural and diverse opportunities available to you, search forums and community websites online for some opinions, answers and suggestions from others that have had the opportunity to experience Hawaii, and the locals alike. Locals of Hawaii tend to be very active on forums as they’re eager to help educate people about their homeland. This can benefit you tremendously in the event of your first or hundredth trip to Hawaii, whether it be for a nice Hawaii cruise or a relaxing beach vacation.

With many mountains, gorges and tops of idle volcanoes spread over all the islands most are unreachable by any other means. Taking one of many available Hawaii helicopter tours, a different perspective of this island state can be viewed, as well as a different view of the islands’ history. While some of the volcanoes and other rock formations are open for hiking and climbing, the view from the top, although spectacular cannot measure up to the view from 100 or more feet in the air.

There are even some Hawaii helicopter tours that offer to take the path the Japanese bombers used when they bombed Pearl Harbor, as well as an aerial tour of the harbor and near the military installations. Although flying over the installations is not allowed, they can still pass over the outer edges to give tourists a better picture of where part of the defense budget is spent.

Hawaii helicopter tours can also provide a glimpse into the water at the islands’ shoreline to catch a glimpse of how the islands sit on top of a volcanic mountain rising out the water of the Pacific Ocean. Depending on which island the Hawaii helicopter tours are operating from, different aspects of island life can be witnessed.

Flights Look Down On Hawaiian Life

Many small airplanes also offer aerial tours of the island, but the ability of helicopters to go slower and closer to the ground offers a better view of life in paradise. With the trade winds helping to maintain a warmer climate, Hawaii helicopter tours are seldom cancelled due to bad conditions. They can also be taken to find new places in which to walk or swim, and some even offer transport to some of the more isolated areas of the island.

Hikers may use Hawaii helicopter tours to take them to a hiking location and after a predetermined time return them to their motel. From the air not only is the scenery more abundant, but the great expanse of sugar cane fields and pineapple orchards more visible. The flights typically stay away from the ground routes, allowing passengers visions of an area not able to be seen from the ground.

It would be nearly impossible to walk from one side of any of the islands to the other, mainly because of the rugged terrain. However, Hawaii helicopter tours can allow people to see all of the majestic mountains and valleys missed by those on the ground.

Hotels in Hawaii are like roses in a rose garden. They’re plentiful, pretty and no two are alike. Because of all the different things to see and do in Hawaii, hotels have to pick and choose the amenities that they offer.

Sure, most Hawaii hotels offer swimming pools and high speed internet access, along with free continental breakfast and room service. But when it comes to the extras, you’re sure to find a world of difference from hotel to hotel.

Shows, Shows and More Shows

Traditional Hawaii is always experienced as a tourist, because sharing the culture of Hawaii is very important to the state. One way this is done is by offering different kinds of shows in hotels on the islands. Of course, it’s not up to the state which hotel offers what kind of entertainment, but the hotels have no problem offering these services on their own.

In order to attract tourists, Hawaii hotels have to offer something unique from what the rest of Hawaii has to offer. You’ll find Polynesian shows in some hotels, which can range from mediocre to extravagant, and you can usually tell what kind of show it is by the price tag. Reasonably priced shows will offer plenty of glamour and glitz of Hawaii, but the more expensive tickets will more than likely blow your mind.

Some hotels like the Hilton Hawaiian Village go above and beyond, offering an entire evening extravaganza on Friday nights. Beginning with culinary bliss, you’ll be treated to a 3 course professionally prepared meal while you enjoy a traditional luau that puts you right in the center of Hawaiian culture.

After the show, head to the beach (literally a hop skip and a jump away) and settle in for an unforgettable fireworks display. One weekend a month, you can head just a bit further down the beach for a

The 50th state in the United States is made up of a string of islands collectively known as Hawaii, but the largest of the islands in the string is also known as Hawaii which often causes some confusion. To make it clear which island is being referred to, many simply call the island of Hawaii the big island. The Hawaii islands are actually the result of underground lava formation beginning in the floor of the ocean and building upwards until the magma extended above the depths of the Pacific Ocean.

There are eight inhabited islands in the string of the Hawaii islands with many others tipping their faces out of the water, but due to size and resources are not inhabited. Nihau, the north west-most island is the smallest of the settled island and the big island is located to the furthest southeast link in the chain of the Hawaii islands. Oahu is home to the state capital Honolulu as well as most tourist attractions, chosen by former ruler King Kamehamea due to the proximity of the natural harbor, now known as Honolulu Harbor.

Other lands in the Hawaii islands include Kauai, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoulawe and Maui. Transportation between these islands is provided by air or boat with the larger islands having airports capable of accepting large commercial aircraft and others smaller, commuter aircraft.

Nature Helped Bring Life To Volcanic Land

With the Hawaii islands beginnings traced back to barren lava growth, it is theorized that plants and animals were brought to the islands by wind currents, in the water and by flying birds. When the first human inhabitants arrived for Polynesia in about 500 A.D., plants and animals had already claimed the island and recent conservation methods have insured the continued growth and stable habitat for the native species.

The Hawaii islands became an important strategy for the U.S. Navy and Air Force, even before the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. While still home to U.S. military bases, which provide a large population with civilian job opportunities, it is also home to the monuments for the soldiers who perished in the attack.

Hawaii islands population has grown tremendously, especially since becoming a state in 1959, as the census in 1910 recorded a population of about 154,000. Inhabitants have increased to over 1.2 million in 2000. The Hawaii islands are the only U.S. state completely surrounded by water and is located about 1,500 miles away from mainland at the west coast of California.

They are a company that is proud to be recognized as the largest provider of tourist attractions on the Hawaiian Islands.

The tour duration is 105 minutes in length, and because of the popularity of the tour it is important that you book yourself in far enough in advance that you can be ensured availability for the particular date and time that you are looking for.

The Atlantis Company is definitely one that you know you can trust, not only for their Hawaii submarine tours but in regards to all their other offerings as well. Last year alone, the organization employed approximately 450 people, operating 22 tourist submarines at 13 different locations around the world, and taking over 750,000 people on undersea tours. They are without a doubt one of the most well-respected and recognized adventure companies in the world, and are definitely the one to go through when you are in the Hawaii area.

The Hawaii Superferry offers an entirely new way to get around the Hawaiian Islands, a way which has quickly become incredibly popular, especially with tourists. The company actually began as a vision to restore to Hawaii a time-honored means for traveling between the islands, and was not expected to become half as popular as it did.

The Experience

There are almost an endless number of options when it comes to the Hawaii Superferry. Traveling between the Hawaiian Islands by boat is truly a traditional and time-honored method, and the ancient Polynesians, with their true indomitable courage and genius for navigation, first commanded these waters some years ago and developed a proud history which has been carried on as best as possible over the years.

The Hawaiian Superferry is much more than just an alternative method of travel around the islands, and it is truly honoring Hawaiian culture in general.

The passenger experience is truly incredibly on the Hawaiian Superferry, and the following amenities are available to you onboard: panoramic vistas from their specially engineered passenger deck, which has a higher section that offers a clear view, even from the middle of the ferry, family seating that includes numerous inviting leather sofas paired with coffee tables and offering each family a separate seating section, big-screen entertainment such as newly released movies and Hawaiian-themed programming, video games catering to the entertainment needs of young adults, and low-E glass, which allows light in while moderating heat and helps to keep you cool and comfortable.

The dining and entertainment features on the Hawaiian Superferry are astounding as well, and the company is proud to offer the best in island foods and beverages onboard the mighty vessel. From Kona coffee to sandwiches, salads, soups and entrees, you will dine on everything from the most casual to the finest Hawaiian cuisine.

There is also a center available on the Superferry just for kids, which offers a family-friend environment featuring a special play place just for kids, the Manta Cove. Their gaming arcade will amuse the older children and even young adults, making the Hawaiian Superferry trip enjoyable and amusing for everyone involved.

If you are interested in setting sail on the gorgeous Hawaiian seas on the Hawaiian Superferry, you will want to call in to book your reservation as soon as possible, in order to ensure availability. Seats get filled incredibly quickly, so the earlier on you book the better chances you are going to have of getting fit in.

Since becoming a state in 1959, Hawaii tourism has played a crucial role in the finances of this island paradise. Visitors from many different countries and cultures travel to the islands for their well-known warm weather, water sports and general beauty of the landscape. There are also numerous attractions that draw people for historical reasons such as Hickham Air Force Base outside Honolulu as well as the memorials of Pearl Harbor.

While visiting Pearl Harbor, many find Luke Field on Ford Island a major source of historical facts surrounding the beginning of World War II following the Japanese attack on the harbor. However, war history is only a part of the Hawaii tourism package. There are many interested in watching pineapples picked and sugar cane cut in the fields and are anxious to acquire souvenirs from their experience. Additionally, hiking the mountains that fall drastically into the ocean draws adventurers from all over the world.

Hawaii is also home to many international surfing competitions as well as a wealth of geological studies, especially those surrounding volcanic activity. The last recorded volcanic eruption was in the late 18th century, but many still seek souvenirs from these geological blasts as part of the Hawaii tourism trade.

Tourists Don’t Stop At Modern Attractions

With the plethora of wildlife native to the south seas, aquatic life joining in the Hawaii tourism includes the humpback whale, which is the state’s mammal, along with monk sea lions. The sea lions are on a road to recovery due to its dwindling population and the squeaky-voiced chirps of the i’wee bird often attracts visitors by its high-pitched voice. The curved beak is used much like that of the North American hummingbird to draw nectar from deep within the native plants.

While many recommend renting a car to really experience the island you are visiting, other prefer bus tours, which are a major part of the Hawaii tourism trade, traveling around the area with local tour guides to offer many facts about life on the islands. It helps to understand what is seen on the islands, even if the native names of places and things are beyond comprehension.

Many commercial activities are also present on the islands, many presenting historical takes on the modern state, but to truly identify with the evolution of the islands chain into the Mecca it is today, Hawaii tourism recommends seeing many of the major attractions alone, or with a native guide.

Also for any Hawaii travel you should make yourself as aware of the Hawaiian culture in general as possible before heading out there, so that you will be more understanding and will be able to take pride and respect the Hawaiian heritage and way of life.

There are various different heritage tour guides that you can go on which will help you to learn about the Hawaiian culture, and all of these tours are knowledgeable about the real Hawaii and care about accurately sharing Hawaii’s native culture and history, committed to superior service and the preservation of Hawaiian culture in an authentic way, and sensitive to the environment, traditions and culture of Hawaii in general.

Budget is always an important part of Hawaii travel, as not only are you going to want to make sure that you have enough money to actually make it to Hawaii and back and have some spending money on the trip, but as well you want to make sure that you have worked it out where you are not going to be stuck with a ton of bills when you get back. This means saving in advance and keeping a bit tucked away for when you return, since you will not be getting your regular pay most likely again until a few weeks later.

The process of planning out your Hawaii travel plans does not have to be difficult or frustrating in any way, but it is critical that you take the time and effort now, beforehand so that you can deal with everything you need to and enjoy yourself on your trip.

In order to have a more private vacation as opposed to sharing a motel with hundreds of other tourists, many are opting to take advantage of Hawaii vacation rentals, offering a more isolated and private time with family and friends. As they are usually not part of any vacation package with a group, Hawaii vacation rentals also offer the opportunity for visitors to parts of the islands, typically not included in many of the usual tours.

The available types of Hawaii vacation rentals can be as diverse as the people seeking them, from single family, isolated private homes to condos and apartments. Many are owned by private individuals or corporations that bought them before tourism became popular. By renting them on a weekly or monthly basis, many of the available Hawaii vacation rentals are turning a good profit for their owners. Individuals may also own more than one home and choose to rent one to tourists as a mean of supplementing their income.

Depending on the size of the tour party, a large family can often arrange a stay in one of the larger Hawaii vacation rentals in which everyone can stay. This prevents the need for renting several motel rooms and allows for better interaction among family members.

Leaving The Tourist Crowds In The City

Many visitors are finding a different Hawaii than they may have experienced during a previous visit to the islands. As many cites cater to the tourism trade, they are often packed with tourists from all over the world and some visitors find the large crowds and potentially long lines at restaurants of attractions too much to bear. By finding Hawaii vacation rentals, they are able to be housed in areas away from the beaten paths and there are even some small bungalows located on isolated stretches of beach for the ultimate in privacy.

There are many resources available for finding Hawaii vacation rentals, in addition to the ads in the Hawaiian newspapers, include internet sites that cater to connecting owners of Hawaii vacation rentals with potential visitors. While most of the rental property is handled by management companies that take care of cleaning, maintenance and other aspects of operating rental property, some private owners prefer to handle all of the details on their own.

Finding the perfect place to stay while visiting any of the inhabited islands can by easy enough by picking one of the many motels available. However, to really see the island and enjoy the privacy, choosing Hawaii vacation rentals may be the answer.

If you are planning a vacation, then one place you have surely already considered is Hawaii. As one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, Hawaii is well known for its beauty, exoticness, and breathtaking backdrops. There is really something for everyone on the Hawaiian Islands, whether you want to go snorkeling, scuba diving, parasailing, whale watching, skiing, or just relax under a beautiful Hawaiian sunset.

Decide Where To Go And What To Do

Planning is the most important step of any vacation, since the point of a vacation is to enjoy yourself and have fun, and you can really only do this if you take the time to properly plan beforehand.

The first thing you should do when planning Hawaii vacations is to determine where exactly you want to go. There are many different areas and islands, and you are definitely going to want to take a bit of time and browse through your options until you determine the place that looks most ideal to you.

When planning Hawaii vacations, it is important that you choose off-season dates, especially if you want to get the lowest possible prices in terms of airfare and hotel accommodations. You also want to book early, at least a year in advance if you can, as then you will have access to the best rates and full availability. Especially in popular, exotic locations such as Hawaii, spots tend to fill up incredibly quickly.

Also remember when planning Hawaii vacations that you should book the time off work well in advance as well, so that you don’t get stuck last minute realizing that you cannot make it on your trip due to work obligations.

Vacations Package

Then you should try and find a Hawaii vacations package. Although you can purchase your plane tickets and hotel reservations and other amenities separately, it is always easiest and cheapest to just get it all in one package deal. There are a few different companies that are worth checking out when it comes to Hawaii vacations packages, one in particular being the Hawaii Travel Bureau.

They offer over one hundred hotels, resorts, and condos, on six Hawaiian Islands, ranging from economy to luxury, and including well-known and respected names such as Hilton, Sheraton, Hyatt, Marriott, and more. They are a company with a perfect Better Business Record, which goes to prove their reputation as a respectable business. They offer high quality customer service that you can rely on, and prices that you can afford.

There are various other companies you can go through as well, but if you decide to choose another, make sure that they offer the same great deals and superior customer service as the Hawaii Travel Bureau.

When anyone mentions Hawaii, volcanoes soon come to the forefront of the conversation. Known for Don Ho, the hula and brilliant flowers, Hawaii is also known for its very active volcanoes. The Hawaiian Islands are some of the youngest land masses on Earth, with the live volcanoes bringing up matter to make even more land. A glimpse of Hawaii’s volcanoes is a glimpse into Earth’s primordial past.

Kilauea

The most famous and filmed of Hawaii’s volcanoes is Kilauea, on the Big Island. It is considered the most live active volcano on earth. The most recent eruption was in 1983 – and it hasn’t stopped since. Kilauea is considered sacred; the home of the beneficial fire Goddess Pele. This Goddess is beloved by native Hawaiians even today, but She is not so loving to Her sister, Na-Maka-o-kaha’i, the Goddess of the Sea. They have fought forever and still continue to do so, with Kilauea’s lava flowing into the steaming sea.

A Home Of Volcanoes

Hawaii even has a park called Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, which certainly is a great place to go for volcano watching. It is home to two active volcanoes. But because of the volcanoes, the land around is incredibly fertile. It can seem odd that such a lush tropical environment can co-exist with the desolate live volcanoes.

In Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, you can watch butterflies, camp overnight, hike or bike. If you only have a couple of hours to spare, it is recommended to go on a guided tour of the park to at least view the oddly graceful volcanoes. Dogs are allowed on the campgrounds in specially designated areas and must be leashed, so they are not tempted to hunt some of Hawaii’s extremely rare wildlife.

The weather at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is unpredictable, so be ready for anything. The Park itself recommends that you wear a few layers of clothing to quickly and conveniently add or subtract as you move around. The islands get a lot of rainfall annually, so slicker or raincoat is recommended than an umbrella, which can be blown away in winds.

To find out the latest on Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Kilauea or even the weather in Hawaii, check with Hawaii’s official tourism site, www.gohawaii.com. There you can also make hotel reservations, plan a wedding or get tickets to Hawaiian events and attractions. Remember that Hawaii has one of the highest standard of living costs in the nation, so budget carefully.

One of the reasons that Hawaii is such a popular vacation destination for visitors all over the world is Hawaii watersports. Jetski rentals make it easy and fun to take a thrill ride across the waters. But jetski jockeys have come into problems with scaring or colliding into Hawaii’s rare marine wildlife. The natives of Hawaii know how important pleasing the tourists are, but they also know how precious their wildlife is. On your vacation, if you want to take part in Hawaii watersports, jetski courses are a safe option for both you and the wildlife.

What Are Jestki Courses?

Jetskis are little ride-on boats that look like motorcycles on water. They are incredibly mobile and fast, giving the rider a feeling of speed and thrills. However, the waters around the Hawaiian Islands are not only filled with rare marine life, but can have unpredictable and dangerous riptides. Having an inexperienced jetski jockey out on the open Hawaiian waters is a bit like driving the Indy 500 when you only have your learner’s permit.

To give land lubbers the fun of Hawaii watersports, jetski courses have been created. These are safe watery areas where you can maneuver your jetski around without worry of drowning or hitting a whale. Many of these courses are in calm bay waters. You can usually choose to rent a one or two seat jetski. You have to bring your own bathing suit and sunglasses.

Where Are The Courses?

There are many commercial Hawaii watersports jetski courses on most of the islands, including the Hawaii Sports Center on the Big Island of Hawaii and Seabreeze Watersports of Oahu. Most Hawaii watersports jetski courses also offer other activities like kayaking, snorkeling or guided tours. Sometimes you can get package deals by booking for more than one activity.

Although jetskis have rapidly decreased in price, there are a limited number at any Hawaii watersports jetski course rentals. You need to book at least a week in advance at most places. If you suddenly decide to go for a jetski ride the moment you step onto Hawaiin sands, check with your hotel lobby. Sometimes there are local places with sign up sheets that do deals with certain hotels.

Before you go on a jetski, be honest with yourself about your health. Jetskis need some physical exertion, balance and stamina. You also need to have quick reactions and decent eyesight. If you can legally pass an driver’s eye test, you should be all right for a jetski. If you have a heart problem, think twice about it.

One of the most beautiful places in the world that you can go to for a wedding is Hawaii, especially when you consider just how many different breathtaking locales there are in the area. Hawaii is actually comprised of over a hundred different islands, which gives you a lot of variety in terms of where exactly you can hold Hawaii weddings.

Getting Started

The process of planning any wedding can be incredibly complex and time consuming, but Hawaii weddings more than any, just because there is such a multitude of options to choose from here. If you are interested in having a wedding in Hawaii, then there are a few steps that you are going to have to take.

First you are going to want to find a reception and ceremony site. There are quite a few different fabulous options that are available, and it really all depends on your own personal taste and sense of style. The Willows in Honolulu is one in particular, a beautiful and exotic restaurant that is nestled within the heart of Honolulu. There are four different banquet rooms offered here: Honolulu Room, Imai’kalani Room, Tea Room, and Kapa’akea Room.

The Honolulu Room is the ideal room to hold your important business meetings where you require privacy as well as superior customer service. Your guests can dine on the delicious buffet in a comfortable air conditioned room. The Imai’kalani Room is exquisitely decorated and overlooks the entire Willows Garden. The Tea Room is the perfect spot for birthdays and weddings and is accented with Japanese décor and air conditioned for your comfort. Finally, the Kapa’akea Room is the largest room available, and amenities include air conditioning, restrooms, and a hardwood stage and dance floor.

The next step involved in planning Hawaii weddings is to choose a caterer, which is especially important if you are planning on having a larger wedding. You are also going to need to hire entertainment, choose and purchase wedding favors, hire party rentals and service staff, photographers, videographers, and get a wedding cake.

One of the best things about planning Hawaii weddings is that you are basically offered an endless amount of options. You can have your wedding on the water, by a snowy summit, or underneath a gorgeous Hawaiian sunset. There is so much versatility in the Hawaii locale that you can basically do whatever you want and either way your wedding is going to come out wonderfully. It is really no wonder why Hawaii is one of the most popular wedding destinations in the world.

Honolulu Hawaii is the capital as well as the most populous community in the State of Hawaii. The Honolulu District is located on the southeast coast of Oahu between Makapuu and Halawa, and most of the city’s commercial and industrial developments are located on a narrow but relatively flat coastal plain. Downtown Honolulu Hawaii is especially popular, and is recognized as being the financial, commercial and governmental center of Hawaii.

There are a lot of different areas that comprise the city of Honolulu Hawaii, including Manoa and Maikiki, Nuuanu and Pauoa, Palolo and Kaimuki, and Waikiki which is known as being the world famous tourist district of Honolulu, and which is located between the Ala Wai Canal and the Pacific Ocean next to Diamond Head. The Waikiki Beach attracts millions of visitors each and every year, and just west of here is Ala Moana Center, which is the world’s largest open-air shopping center.

Government

Government is a very important matter not only in Honolulu but in all of Hawaii, and in terms of the government of Honolulu Hawaii, the residing mayor is Mufi Hannemann, who is the 12th mayor of the city and county of Honolulu, after taking office on January 2, 2005. He is a Harvard-educated leader and former star athlete, and has the distinction of serving in the administrations of four different United States presidents: Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush.

Hannemann has made much progress during his time as mayor, including restoring fiscal integrity and accountability at City Hall, focusing on basic public services, and improving the quality of life for all citizens. The concentrates largely on City services, namely at ensuring public safety, repairing and maintaining the roads, improving sewer systems and managing solid waste and recycling, and tackling traffic and transportation issues.

Honolulu Botanical Gardens

There are many different locales that are considered as must-sees when traveling to Honolulu Hawaii, one in particular being the Honolulu Botanical Gardens. Their mission here is to plan, develop, curate, maintain and study documented collections of tropical plants in an aesthetic setting for the purposes of conservation, botany, horticulture, education, and recreation.

There are five distinct gardens that combine together to form a unique garden system here at the Honolulu Botanical Gardens center, and these five gardens are located in different ecological settings around the island of Oahu. If you are ever in the Honolulu area this is definitely one spectacle that you are not going to want to miss.

There are many different places in and around Hawaii that you can go to, but one of the fan favorites is Kona Hawaii. Kona Hawaii is famous for sportfishing, snorkeling, sunsets and coffee, and is definitely one locale in particular that you are going to want to check out if you are in the area. The northern portion of the Kona side of Hawaii is also known as the Kohala district, and the weather and ocean conditions here can be vastly different depending on which side of the island you are on and the time of year.

Northern Kona Hawaii has scenery that is dominated by arid dried lava beds, and little rain and plenty of sun make this landscape one of the best in all Hawaii. Beginning at the Port of Kawaihae, you will find a ton of different beaches dotting along the entire coastline, and there are more beautiful beaches throughout the Kohala Coast, many of which are surrounded by large resort hotels with the majestic Mauna Kea volcano as a breathtaking backdrop.

The Keahole Airport and the vibrant town of Kailu-Kona are located in North Kona, and the area is very accessible because there are direct flights always available from the Mainland and Overseas. The marine and small boat harbor is where you will typically begin any scuba diving trips, snorkeling adventures, and deep sea fishing voyages.

Then there is also south Kona Hawaii, where the road begins elevation and you will pass a string of tiny villages and small coffee farms. You will also notice that the air is becoming cooler as you are climbing the slopes of the Hualalai volcano. There are a few great sports for snorkeling, such as the Kealakekua Bay and Honaunau, and you should also keep an eye out for the green sea turtles and Hawaiian Spinner dolphins that are often in these areas.

Whether you decide to go to Kona Hawaii or another part of the islands, you are sure to have a wonderful time. The sights and scenery that you will take in will truly astound you, and it is definitely not something that you will ever regret.

Planning

As with any trip, planning is the most important aspect of all, as you want to make sure that you have everything in order and that you are fully prepared, mostly so that you will not have anything to worry about once you do finally reach the beautiful Kona Hawaii. Having fun and enjoying yourself is the only thing that you should be concerned with on your trip.

In the technologically advanced world that we live in today, there is really no greater resource available to us than the Internet. The speed and efficiency of the Internet allows us to go places and do things that we never even imagined possible before, and truly revolutionizes the way in which we do regular tasks.

Road trips and traveling in general, for instance, has been made a great deal easier, as we can use the Internet to plan out our trips and vacations step by step.

Finding Hawaii

If you are planning on taking a trip to Hawaii, then one of the first and most important things to do is find a map of Hawaii. There are a number of different companies that you can go to online that offer a map of Hawaii, some in particular which you are going to find especially resourceful and helpful.

One is Lonely Planet, a company that started off small but which now boasts offices in Melbourne, Oakland and London, with over five hundred office employees and over three hundred on-the-road authors. Each month alone over five million travelers visit the Lonely Planet website, and they come to shop, read, listen to podcasts, and learn basic information about locations before they travel to them.

They also offer a detailed map of Hawaii, which you can take with you and bring along on your travels, so that you can quickly and easily find your way around the Hawaiian Islands and be able to get the absolute most that you can out of your trip.

World Atlas

Another company that offers a map of Hawaii is World Atlas. All maps, graphics and flags that they use are created by their own company, and they make no copyright claim on any of the statistical data on their website. Not only do they offer maps of Hawaii and other locations, but as well detailed information regarding the history and culture of each locale. This is definitely a site that you want to check out regardless of where you travel, as they will make any trip a great deal easier and more enjoyable.

By having a map with you your trip will be easier and more convenient, especially of course if you are going to a place that you have never been before. Because Hawaii is so large and made up of so many different islands, it is truly beneficial to you and your traveling mates to go as prepared as possible.

Maui Hawaii is just a small part of the Hawaiian Islands, but definitely one of the most major. The island of Maui is actually the second-largest of all the Hawaiian Islands and the largest in Maui County as well. It presently has a resident population of 117,644, which his ranked third within the state only behind the islands of Oahu and Hawaii.

Maui Hawaii

Maui Hawaii is a great place to go if you are looking for fun and adventure. There are almost an endless number of things to do, one of the most popular being the helicopter tours. The 45 minute Hana/Haleakala Tour in particular is a fan favorite, and here you ride in comfort in a state of the art A-Star Black Beauty helicopter, and take in sights that are impossible to see by car, including spectacular views of Haleakala, Hana, Seven pools, waterfalls, and Ho’okipa the world-famous windsurfing area.

Also in Maui Hawaii you can go snorkeling and whale watching, and the Friendly Charters – Lana Kai Maui Snorkeling Whale Watch is one option in particular that you are definitely going to want to check out. Here you will have a wonderful experience taking in the sights and watching the whales, enjoying a continental breakfast, beverages, deli-style buffet lunch, and more.

Horseback riding is just another of the many options available to you here, and the Mendes Ranch is a great place to go for this. The journey begins at the Mendes Ranch Corral where you are greeted by real Paniolo’s, and you canter up rolling pastures into the lush rainforest and gaze down into the Eki Crater to view some of Maui’s largest and most breathtaking waterfalls.

Your tour will then continue down the mountain where you will see Hawaiian taro patches and plantation homes, and then down along Waihe’e Valley through the crystal blue waters of the Pacific Ocean where you will go on a horseback ride with the majestic seascape as your background.

When you go to Maui Hawaii you will almost be overwhelmed by the multitude of activities and adventures that you can partake in. It is without a doubt one of the most beautiful and exotic locations in the world, and definitely one that everyone should visit at least once. Just make sure that you plan as best as possible beforehand so that you can have everything set and enjoy yourself on your trip as much as you possibly can.

It would be a shorter article if the title was “Things You Can’t Do In Hawaii for Eco-Tourists”, because there is just so much to choose from. Hawaii is so beautiful, you need to savor it. Don’t rush to try and do it all, or you will wind up needing a vacation from your Hawaii vacation. It is more relaxing and meaningful to decide on a few things to do in Hawaii in advance and enjoy them to the fullest. You can then try other activities on your next visit.

Horseback Riding

There are an incredible amount of public riding stables on most of the islands in Hawaii. Riding on the shoreline is unforgettable – and the sand makes for a softer landing, should you and your mount part company. Horses were thought by the ancient Greeks to have been created by Poseidon, God of the Sea. There are a lot of similarities between the waves and your horse as you ride. Try to book in advance. Find out before your trip whether you need to bring any special hard hats or riding shoes, or if they will be provided for you.

Whale Watching

No matter how many times you see a whale on TV, it never prepares you for the sight of the real thing. Whale watching is becoming one of the most popular things to do in Hawaii because the waters are most visible. With the ever declining populations of whales, people are going for a look now before it’s too late. Expect to get wet and bring your Dramamine if you get motion sick.

Nature Preserves

There are many nature preserves on several of the islands, each with different things to do. In Hawaii, there is wildlife and birdlife that is unique to the United States. Hawaii is trying to preserve what’s left of their precious environment. There are different things to do in Hawaiian nature preserves, including hiking, camping, bird watching (properly called “twitching”), biking and taking guided tours. You can go online to discover what events might be happening in a particular preserve that interests you most. You can also discover when they are open and what equipment they recommend you bring.

The Beach

And, of course, one of the original things to do in Hawaii is still one of the most popular – lying out on the beach. There are plenty of public beaches to choose from in a chain of islands. Remember to NEVER swim alone and don’t go into the water if there isn’t a lifeguard on duty. Hawaii’s waters can have very unpredictable riptides. But it’s safe to suntan year round.

Blue Hawaii is a 1961 musical film that is set in the state of Hawaii and which stars Elvis Presley as the leading man. It is based on a character named Chad Gates, who has just gotten out of the army and who is happy to be back in Hawaii with his girlfriend and best buddies. He ends up going to work as a tour guide at his girlfriend’s agency, and one of the best parts of the entire film, besides the King himself of course, is the beautiful Hawaiian backdrop.

Most of the film was shot on location at the Coco Palms Resort on the East shore of Kauai. Besides Presley, the primary cast featured Joan Blackman, Angela Lansbury, Nancy Walters, Jenny Maxwell, and Pamela Austin. There was also a long list of legendary recording musicians who contributed to the film, besides Presley this included The Surfers, The Jordanaires, Hank Garland, Bernie Lewis, Floyd Cramer, D.J. Fontana, Boots Randolph, George Field, and Fred Tavares.

Besides the movie Blue Hawaii that we all know and love, there are also some other world-famous Blue Hawaiis.

Blue Hawaii Vacations

The Blue Hawaii Vacations Company for instance, which is located on the beautiful island of Maui. Their vacation company began over a decade ago and since that time they have worked incredibly hard, and now sit in one of the leading positions in terms of vacation companies in Hawaii.

They offer a variety of different flights, cruises and package deals, one in particular being the Tahitia Vacations, with which you will sail in the French Polynesia on the Tahitian Princess, which features more than two thirds of the ship

It is basically a sort of centralized network that features an array of online urban communities, featuring free classified advertisements. You can find almost anything here, including housing, employment, personal ads, events, gigs and resumes, and all the forums are sorted by different topics.

The website now offers sites in 450 different cities around the world and although financial information about the nonprofit company is not disclosed anywhere, business experts believe that it is worth at least 10 million USD to date. Over 5 million viewers use Craigslist each month, and although for the most part there are no complaints about the company, it is important that visitors realize that they need to be cautious, especially when applying to jobs that are listed.

While most job ads are legitimate there are still many which are not, as well as housing rentals and sales ads which are often times phony and are used for manipulation purposes, to gain people

For most people Hawaiian music revolves around the steel guitar, slack-key guitar, and the ukulele, but it is important to realize that there is much more to Hawaiian music than this.

There is really nothing more culturally and fundamentally important to the state of Hawaii than flowers and music. Hawaii music in particular is representative of the Hawaii culture and traditional Hawaii music includes an array of traditional and popular styles, ranging from native Hawaiian folk music to modern rock and hip hop.

This music is a major part of the state’s musical heritage, and the Hawaiian people have inhabited the islands for centuries and all throughout that time made sure to retain their traditional music knowledge. This explains why music festivals and venues are also so significant to the Hawaiian culture, and major music festivals in Hawaii include the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival, Big Island Slack Key Guitar Festival, Steel Guitar Association Festival, and the Atta Isaacs Slack Key Festival.

Types of Hawaii Music

There are actually a few different specific types of Hawaii music that are considered as being most popular, one which is Hawaiian Renaissance. The Hawaiian Renaissance was truly a sort of resurgence in terms of the interest of Hawaiian music, and a few of the more traditional players included Sonny Chillingnworth, Ray Kane, Leonard Kwan, Ledward Ka’apana, Dennis Pavao, and Peter Moon.

Jawaiian is another popular type or style of Hawaii music, one that is a sort of Hawaiian take on reggae music, and in Hawaii, ethnic Hawaiians and others in the state began playing a mixture of reggae and local music in the early 1990s, and by the end of the decade it had come to dominate the local music scene.

Hip hop is also very popular in the Hawaii area, and Hawaii hip hop can actually be dated back to its first inception in the early 1980s. Some of the Hawaii hip hop crews and solo emcees that have been most recognized are Club Rox Rock, Rhythm & Rhyme, C.O.D., Skream Team, Aiga, Earth Movers, and Amphibieus Tungs.

Not only is jazz another of the most influential styles of Hawaii music, but as well there have been some very notable jazz players who have come out of the area, including Gabe Baltazar, Ryan Kunimura, Robert Shinoda, Tim Tsukiyama, and Danny Del Negro.

The music of Hawaii is one of the most traditional and culturally respective aspects of the state, and music in general plays an incredibly large role in the way that Hawaiian people live and cultivate.

These flowers are native to warm temperature, subtropical and tropical regions throughout the world. The leaves are alternate, and ovate to lanceolate. The flowers are typically large, conspicuous, trumpet-shaped with five or more petals, ranging from white to pink, red, purple or yellow, and from 4-15 cm in width.

The hibiscus is truly one of the most beautiful flowering plants in the world, and not only is it recognized as being the Hawaii state flower but also is used as an offering to God Kali and Lord Ganesha in Hindu worship.

The Hibiscus was adopted as the Hawaii state flower in the early 1920s, but it was not until the year 1988 that the yellow Hibiscus was selected in particular to represent Hawaii. It is fitting that this specific flower be chosen as the Hawaii state flower, as it is a beautiful, indigenous blossom which grows luxuriantly on all the islands, and which appears to be most generally representative as no other flower has such a great variety in terms of color and form or is so continuously blooming.

The legislation referred to this Hawaii state flower as being an indigenous blossom, and in the year 2000, section 5-16 of the Hawaii Revised Statutes was amended to name an official flower and it also added section 5-16.5 to name an official color for each of the islands.
